MUANH – lotus

Hamburg-based singer, songwriter and producer MUANH spent years being told to sing louder, more ‘powerfully’—or to silence her artistic voice altogether, take the safe path and become a teacher. She became a teacher, and an artist anyway. Her debut EP hush grew out of learning to trust her own instincts and deciding for herself how she wants to be heard.

She began producing in Ableton in her student apartment during the pandemic, working with a small setup and finding chords by ear on a MIDI keyboard. Much of it was play: trying things out, listening, following what felt right. Collaborations with other producers followed. After moving to Hamburg, she began recording with musicians from the local scene and brought together the band that helped shape hush.

Dreamy soft-pop blends hazy guitars, understated electronics and ethereal vocal arrangements over an R&B pulse. The aim is a sound that feels spacious and intimate at once. Her love of melody and longing reaches back to childhood favorites like Madonna, Enya, Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears, and the Ngọc Lan songs her mother played at home.
