fencah – Wiser and Older

Wiser and Older is fencah‘s latest single, telling the story of chasing a connection that ultimately turned out to be superficial and was never meant to last. Inspired by the smooth rhythms of Parcels and the timeless warmth of Fleetwood Mac, the song moves in the twilight between closeness and distance – made to nod along to, never polemical, never on the nose.

Lyrically, Wiser and Older steers clear of blame. Instead, the song paints the picture of a connection that burned bright but was never quite within reach: sometimes all that’s left of an ember are smoke and ashes.  Some shy away from the heat, their shoulders staying cold.  Usually well hidden behind his drum kit (Kitty in a Casket, ELSA, Greyshadow), Max Zauner steps into the spotlight himself with his solo project fencah.

Born in 1994 in Melk, Lower Austria, the musician, producer, and mixing engineer brings a varied résumé from behind the scenes: Tours through the US and UK, numerous album productions, chart placements, international radio airplay, and work as a musical director for theatre.  He’s joined on “Wiser and Older” by Michael Gansberger (guitar) and Michael Stöger (bass). The song was recorded, mixed, and produced at artig recordings in Melk, and mastered by Martin Scheer.
