Jo the Man The Music – Skinny Dipping (just your toes)

Right on time fort he first birthday of her well-acclaimed debut single „Skinny Dipping“, Jo The Man The Music dips in just her toes and strips the song down to its essence: “Skinny Dipping (just your toes)” is an acoustic rendition built on Jo’s soft guitar playing and some additional subtle slide guitars. No frills, just unguarded honesty.

“I am not making moves, I’m too scared to get bruised” – an earnest line that has turned out to become quite the antithesis, considering Jo has been doing anything but keeping her feet still this past year. Following three successful singles, she kicked off the year releasing her debut EP „Soft Skin“ in January, and went on an extensive support tour through Europe with Benjamin Amaru. 

Bedroom pop meets Indie rock and strumming guitars as Jo works through the topics of coming of age with an astonishing lightness. It doesn’t take long to feel like Jo is someone you’ve known your whole life, a quality the 25-year-old translates well into the music she writes. A heartfelt person, she connects to people the moment she meets them, picking them up right where they are. Jo grew up playing the violin and later moved on to the guitar, she cites artists like Phoebe Go, Big Thief or Édith Piaf as her musical idols. Recording live sessions with her band in France, joining a nationwide broadcast TV show or playing festival shows every weekend: Jo The Man The Music knows how to make any jump into the cold deep end feel like a beach-getaway with your friends, turning the anxiety in your stomach into butterflies emerging from their cocoons. And she does that in such an unceremonious way that you wouldn’t notice a trace of her own insecurities if she didn’t sing about them so openly in her songs.
