Harvey Brittain – break your own heart
Produced by Brittain himself & co-written with Scottish songwriter Dave Gibson, known for writing James Arthur’s “Car’s Outside”, “break your own heart” is a raw, piano-led alt-pop confessional that explores loving someone caught in cycles of self-destruction. With lyrics confronting addiction, emotional dependency, and inevitable heartbreak, the track captures the helplessness of watching someone you love sabotage their own happiness.
Brittain explains, “It’s about watching someone who keeps choosing their downfall over healing. You can love them with everything you have, but you can’t save someone who won’t save themselves.”
The song pairs his signature cinematic production with intimate R&B-leaning vocals and indie-pop edge, a sound that continues to set him apart in the Gen Z alternative pop landscape.
