Taineh – Marigold

“Marigold” is the second single and also the title track of the upcoming EP Marigold, which will be released in November. The intimate atmosphere of the song moves between Alternative R&B and Indie Soul and tells the story of transforming old wounds into something positive.

Taineh chose a very special date for the release: August 21st, the day her father passed away. She transforms old wounds—like dealing with that loss—into melodies (they used to be my enemies / I turned them into new melodies). Out of vulnerability arises a moment of self-liberation.

With Marigold, Taineh refers to a childhood memory: her grandmother’s homemade marigold ointment, which was used as a remedy for all kinds of wounds. The personal storytelling and soft vocals in the verses are contrasted with the powerful vocal performance in the chorus—an anthem of new beginnings.
