Sophia Andlinger – Baby

With “Baby”, Vienna-based artist Sophia Andlinger releases the third single from her debut album Blurred Tales Out Of My Foggy Head, due for release in autumn 2026.

The album’s thirteen songs represent thirteen dreams which, together, tell an eventful and cryptic story that seems to emerge from the depths of the unconscious. At its core is the overarching theme of trauma and its processing.

Andlinger’s lyrics are characterised by a wide scope for interpretation. In “Baby”, Sophia Andlinger explores a dream: enormous, colourful eggs stand on a hill—some stable, some wobbling, some tipping over and rolling down the hill.

Rich in symbolism, “Baby” addresses an intense fixation on another person and the feeling of carrying a heavy responsibility: to catch and support that person as best as possible through one’s own words. The lyrical narrator constantly observes the other person’s behaviour, adapts accordingly, and treats them like a raw egg. Symbolically, the other person becomes a baby who is not trusted to express themselves, while the narrator twists and bends themselves to avoid breaking the egg with their own edges and roughness.

Ultimately, the cycle is broken by a growing sense of anger, clearing the way for freedom and an honest encounter.
