Oskar Haag – Surf Song

Folks, Oskar Haag’s absence has finally come to an end. Hailed by the German-language music press as the savior of domestic pop music, he returns with Surf Song – a rock ’n’ roll banger that packs a punch: musically unexpected, undeniably cool, and nothing short of sensational.

Four years after his celebrated debut single Stargazing, Oskar Haag returns with Surf Song. The release follows a meteoric rise: multiple FM4 No. 1 placements (Stargazing, Black Dress, The Summer We Need), rapturous reviews for his debut album TEENAGE LULLABIES – which entered the Austrian sales charts at No. 6 – a sold-out club tour, acclaimed support shows for Birdy and AVEC, and the FM4 Amadeus Award, which he won as its youngest recipient ever.

Further nominations, an engagement in a Shakespeare production at the Burgtheater – Europe’s most prestigious theatre – and two major film roles, including a standout performance as young artist Arnulf Rainer in „Mit einem Tiger schlafen“, complete the picture.

Surf Song now serves as the first harbinger of Haag’s second album, LOST CAUSE, due this autumn.

With Surf Song, Oskar Haag once again steps into his role as the great entertainer he undeniably is. Picture Iggy Pop’s grandson teaming up with The xx to create this radically pared-back hit – yes, a HIT!- in which he tells the entire world, and above all that one person, about his fixation: a raw, aching hunger for her damn affection. Or better yet—love.
