Lone Assembly – In the Open

Swiss four-piece Lone Assembly release “In the Open”, a galloping new synth-pop single that shows the band in a (slightly) less sombre light than usual. As always with an eighties coldness glossed over with a magnificently modern production, the track explores the desire to extract oneself from a suffocating inner loop – that of memories, of things left unsaid, of days repeating themselves. The lyrics unravel the thread of an inner struggle, a form of fragility but also a search for truth and deliverance. The chorus sounds like an inner cry, a vital need to break the chains of a past still burning (“September 8 still weighs its load of knots and chains”).

Lone Assembly are a Geneva-based post-punk/synth-pop band who released their debut EP “That Never Happened” in 2024, followed by a handful of singles and gigs across Europe, including a forthcoming appearance at the legendary Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, Germany.
