Filiah – Mean Something
Accompanied by gentle acoustic guitars and her unmistakably warm voice, Filiah paints a picture of vulnerability that simultaneously reveals her greatest strength. Transparent and raw, like a glass body reflecting light; fragile yet solidly formed, Filiah’s music tells her most personal stories.
Filiah carried “Mean Something” with her for over a year before putting it down on paper.
“Although there is a lot of darkness in the song, it felt empowering to write it down. I am convinced that vulnerability is a form of strength that creates space for difficult conversations. It took a long time to put the situation into words, and now it finally feels like I’m no longer just hiding behind the words.“
For listeners who appreciate artists such as Angie McMahon, Phoebe Bridgers, or Maggie Rogers, Filiah is no longer an insider tip. Her new EP heralds another atmospheric chapter: “Sad Girl With A Punchline” brings together six handcrafted songs that are profound and very close to the listener. Indie-Pop meet folk elements, introspective lyrics meet the confidence of a young woman who has fought her way to where she is today.
Following showcases in Hamburg (DE) and Šibenik (HR), the album will have its first live premiere in this country on October 3 at Waves Vienna, where Filiah is also nominated for the XA Award 2025.
