Double Major – RKR

Making his way into the limelight in 2023, Double Major is back with his debut release, ‘RKR’. Taken from his forthcoming EP, the single shines as Major takes a nostalgic trip back to disco, synthesis

Pouncing forward with a bouncy percussive backbeat, ‘RKR’ is quick of the mark to call you to the dancefloor. Groove-laden basslines give the track a vibrant flavour, allowing space for Double’s sticky topline melodies to paint the soundwaves. Employing retro-tinged refrains, the single offers a playful insight to the neon-lit sonics of Double Major.

Speaking about the release, the artist comments, “I wanted to bring back the spirit of disco that was so present in the 70s and 80s in South Asia and combine it with the power of synth bass and dance music that Berlin is so deeply connected to. It is an attempt for me as an artist to reconnect with my Pakistani identity in the language, and create something new with that in combination with my growth as a musician here in Berlin.”

Born in Karachi, Pakistan, though now based in Berlin, Double Major is a songwriter and producer with a distinctive drive for dance, funk and disco. Since making his debut in 2023, Double Major has pushed the boundaries of pop and rave to produce something that feels truly intuitive and exciting. Often writing about love, heartbreak and the playful side of relationships, his artistry is meticulously designed to be equal parts liberating and exhilarating.
